...does that $840 INCLUDE shipping, Stephen ?

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By 2centsworth on Thursday, October 25, 2001 - 11:43 am: Edit

I would certainly be interested in the roof rack, however, I feel that your price on this site is too high. I'll continue to look and see if the price comes down a bit. Otherwise, good luck to you here and on ebay.

The price of $840.00 is the money order check price to your door shipiing covered. If you are local to Orlando and would like to schedule a pickup that will save you an additional 40.00. Thanks guys
Stephen

yeah, sticky pages decreases the price considerably....talk about "used"

I think that adv rack price is pretty good w/ ship included.

Spam joke was pretty funny...must admit I've used the pen name "Mr. Spam" on occasion...

Stephen, I'm certainly interested in a D1 Adventure rack for $840, shipped.

But, and please don't take offence.....that's a fairly large slug of cash to send to someone that just popped up on Internet.

Can someone vouch for 'ol Netroverparts ???

If it helps, he's got 14 positive feedbacks on ebay and no negative ones. Although, Kyle's right, you can do the honors Keith!

...plus he's changed his e-bay name recently.

Sorry Stephen - you know how easy it is to get burned on the 'net...

Really do want a rack...

Well, while there are a number of rip-offs out there, the majority of e-bay users with positive feedback do hold their end of the deal.

$840 for a rack is quite compelling and a fantastic deal - especially including shipping.

Perhaps Stephen could work out a FedExGround or UPS COD shipment of the rack. It would most probably increase the shipping price a bit but that way both parties have some sort of guarantee. The shipper can specify money order only and the buyer gets the goods when he pays.

Stephen, if we can work something out in private that makes me feel safe to part with $840 bucks, I'm hot to get an Adv rack from you !

I'm going to be out of touch until Monday - please email me and we'll talk then !

Jesus christ people. Bid on the damn thing on ebay if you are so afraid. At least you have some legal recourse and the abiltiy to track him through the eBay channels should something go wrong.
Tell you what, I'll be the guinie pig and buy something from him. If he rips me off, I'll post that I was wrong and we'll all go tar & feather him together. ok?

Chris

chris, a lot of people have used both ebay and paypal to rip people off. legal recourse means nothing if you are clever enough.

I'm not sure I understand all of the sarcasm coming from Chris. He makes an ignorant comment like "oh, well don't worry about it, you can track anybody down" (paraphrased of course), but then gets even more sarcastic when somebody points out that just knowing where somebody is doesn't really offer much of a solution??????
Anybody else decipher the chain of reasoning here or is Chris just having a bad day?

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Stephen Peters (Netroverparts) on Friday, October 26, 2001 - 09:12 pm: Edit

I understand the misgivings about the large amount of cash on the line here. I have three racks in shipment with FedEx now and hope to have feedback posted soon for some larger items. I got into this when my 97 Disco started running badly at 37,000 miles and 1 month of ownership. I received a $2500.00 repair estimate from the local LR dealer ( sticking exhaust valves ). Bottom line is I fixed the heads my self and made a connection with Land Rover for parts. I am not out to rip anyone off. I am 30, a college student, full time employee of a major company, and an X army guy. I do not have a wife, and I can not part with my labs, I do have a slightly used girlfriend if any of you want her, great. My address is posting in all my emails, not sure what else to do. The only reason that I changed my Ebay user name to make it match my Ebay Store. All feedback carried over with the name change. Keep me in mind and thanks for all the emails that I have received.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By chrisvonc on Friday, October 26, 2001 - 09:32 pm: Edit

First off Debate Coach, my sarcasm in my 2nd post was directed to Al who I know, meet a few times and have had convertaions with on other boards and assumed he would take it for the humor that I posted it as.

Second, your paraphrasing is completely off base. My comments in my original post suggest quite the opposite of your misinterpretation. With established transaction sites like eBay, you at least have go through a process of registering with the service. If you want to dig deeper than the limited feedback lines on eBay, you have the ability to email users who have left feedback on someone to find out more details about their dealings with the person. Ebay has many resources avalible to track down the frauds who leave the the right clues behind.
Bottom line, my point was I didnt understand why all this big concern over safety and security all of a sudden for an $840 rack when it never has been an issue before on this board with people selling $1200 tents or the $650 used rack that sold just a few weeks ago or all the other many many items that get sold through here without problem that we hear about.

Hope that helped your confusion.

Chris "having a great day" von C.

I for one am hoping Stephen here does well with Discoweb and rover parts. I heard somewhere that E Bay insures items purchased through them... Cut the guy a break and buy some shit guys , then you will know for sure and Keith can stop foaming at the mouth for an adventure rack... :)

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Debate Coach on Monday, October 29, 2001 - 10:38 am: Edit

Well just to be clear - I think it is time to have some faith in people after all that has went on and I also think the guy deserves a break and if I need anything soon, I will check out what he has to offer and buy. And, I do agree with Chris's second point about it not being a problem in the past. It would be business suicide to screw someboy on this site, because you lose a really good market and great group of people.

BUT, my purchase would be bought on that faith, NOT on the faith that you can track down anybody and get your money if you really set your mind to it. I am sorry, I don't mean to be rude, but that kind of a mind set is just plain ignorant. I have been a professional investigator and worked contract work for insurance companies, attorneys, skip tracing companies, etc. If a person wants to hide and they know how - they will hide and no amount of info given to e-bay or any amount of research will stop that.

For what it is worth guys I have ordered several small parts from Stephen. His prices are excellent. Everything I ordered was at least a little less then the competition and in some cases a lot less. One item, which was being quoted at $40-$50 each from other sources, was quoted by Stephen at $5 each. He then found out that his supplier had mis-quoted him and offered to give it to me at the quoted price even though his cost was $15. I was ordering 2, and we settled on $10 each, only because I did not want to screw him. He was willing to stick to the original quote.

I have not received my shipment yet, but I will post when I do, and I will say that thus far, Stepehen has been a pleasure to deal with.

Also check out Steve at Torasport.com for your non-genuine LR stuff. He is also a great guy to deal with.

-Marc
