Just for fun, how many auto manufacturers can you think of who are named after what their vehicles do? Other than Land Rover.

Volkswagen
"the people's car"
in its hay day it was exactily what it was meant to be, an affordable compact car with quite a bit of room.

I think that he meant the car makers not the car names.

in that case all i can think of is Buick. back in my younger days (college) if you were barfing up a storm you were said to have been 'selling Buicks', since barfing and the word Buick seemed to sound the same.
try it next time your at the bars doing lemon drops or car bombs!!!

Ummm, I try not to puke.. Last time I did that it was an everclear night. I got in big trouble at home that night.. She wouldn't talk to me for a week.

It was Manufacturers, not model names. Good one, Jeff. My point is, very few makes describe what they are designed to be. VW and Land Rover are notable exceptions. This all has to do with the solid axle thing.

International Harvester?

My first car was a Rambler...and that's just what it did. Could not get over 45 mph.
My grandmother was never upset with her: "NOMAD".
My brothers FIREBIRD did have an exhaust flare-up which burned the bondo and set the trunk alblaze!
Let's not forget the hipocritical "YUGO".

YUGO...I mean, "YOU WENT"

Eric, Saab actaully is an acronym, it means Swedish Air AB (AB is the swedish term for Inc.)
This is why the interior looks the way it does, since Saab also makes fighter planes...
http://www.scramble.nl/mil/sf/viggendb.htm
Now, does anyone know what that 3 crowns logo on the wing of that plane means?
By Andrew Maier (White96disco) on Wednesday, November 14, 2001 - 01:34 pm: Edit |
Not sure of the meaning, but all Swedish Air Force aircraft have that insignia -- sort of like the star-with-wings USAF aircraft have...

Svenska Aeroplan Aktiebolaget (abbreviated SAAB). Local caddy dealership has a 9.3 Viggen convertable on the lot - very nice.

Axel, I knew that.. Just making a joke.. I like the looks of the Viggens but, they need more performance to match.
By Axel Haakonsen (Axel) on Wednesday, November 14, 2001 - 03:34 pm: Edit |
Some of the Viggen models come with an afterburner option.
By Eric N (Grnrvr) on Wednesday, November 14, 2001 - 03:43 pm: Edit |
I wish... Wouldn't mind having an afterburner for the Disco either. Would make going up steep hills much easier.
