Hey,
Has anyone done a fair amount of research regarding stem cell storage for newborns? I was looking into this, primarily Viacord, and was wondering if anyone has done and research on this. Is it just snake oil? Are there reliable companies who are cheaper?
Thanks,
Tom

Theoretically valid, but more like snake oil than anything else. I looked into it when my daughter was born last Nov 20. Think about it: What do you really want the stem cells for? For newborn to "use" later in life? What will life be like "later"? Hell, it's only 2001 and we've already mapped almost the entire human genome. Annual $ to a stem cell service is a waste of $ in my opinion.
P.S. What will they say to people who've been paying for years when the power goes out and they have big vats of slush? Don't listen to the bunk about tertiary backups etc. They'll say one thing: "bankrupt!" It's a scam. Waste your money on your Rover instead!

I'd only think you could benefit if your family had a history of cancer. You would probably be better off consulting your doctor than taking opinions from an off-roading site.

Hey I just thought of a slogan for Discoweb...
Discoweb - Everything from stargazing to stem cell storage...Oh and some off roading too.

Al - When doing research, throw the net out big, and then filter what you don't need.

For the record - I'm not a doctor. I just play one on TV.
