Managed to hit another deer this weekend (#2 this year :( ) Luckily this time it was in the Disco with ARB - Hit it at approx 45-50 mph - small deer (about 100 lbs) - One dead deer and no damage whatsoever to the bumper or anything else. My approach angle may suck, but at least it is sturdy.

well we tagged TWO this weekend in style. 8 of us were in a 2000 Lincoln stretch limo and driving from montreal to burlington, vt. just over the border into vermont we tagged 2 out of 3 on the road. busted the headlight, cracked the bumper cover and very slightly dented the hood. could have been some damage under it all, but overall not bad. lots of blood too.
i really need to get an ARB or similar bumper. PA is a nightmare at night on the roads. hit a nice 6 pointer last year in an volvo 850.......7K in damage.
good to hear the ARB worked well bill.

Garrett - glad to hear that no one was injured in your mishap - even better that ot wasn't your vehicle!

I hit one earlier this year in my F350 - $9K later I had the truck back! LOL (albeit most of that damage was from the tree I hit after hitting the damn deer! :) )

What about my factory Land Rover grill guard?? How would that hold up to a deer??

damn. i guess it is about time i get some shit tossed back my way. rob has been getting on my shit lately. :)

the factory brush guard. well......i really doubt the deer(s) would notice the difference if you had one or not.

i am just glad it happened on the way home. would have really freaked out a few montreal canadians fans if we showed up in front of the molson centre with blood all over the limo. the dr. magilicutties (sp???) was making me sick enough.

william-

the factory bar would be pushed into your hood and fenders - most likely damage to grill - lights - core support - possible radiator????

the genuine ones were built to push back small bushes, not survive an impact with a full grown male joey 50-60kgs at 100kph - or in americanese - a 110lbs of venison at 62mph.

bill glad to hear your arb did what it was supposed to do. sorry for the deer.

I usually find deer on my Disco. Although they are normally strapped to the roof rails after a weekend of hunting. :) Roe, Muntjac etc.

If we spot them in the lights, and get the chance, I'd sooner see how they fare against a .243 rather than my Disco.

Hmmm venison for boxing day...

Forget the roof rails... strap it to your ARB!! I hate lifting a deer up there anyway! I don't have lights or a winch on my ARB yet. So it is actually a decent place to strap one. Just be sure you cover it up before you strap it on.. otherwise people will freak out. And you will most likly be breaking the law... damn that statement could be taken the wrong way..LOL! You hunters know what I mean.
