I am selling my Jeep Wrangler for a Discovery Series II ('01 or '02). My Jeep was great and what I will miss the most is taking the top down. The closet I will get to that with the Series II will be the dual sun roofs. However, I am a little worried about the quality of them. It would be great to hear what other Series II owners think of their sun roofs. Should I get them or are they too much potential trouble.
Thanks,
Jason

the sunroofs are made for land rover by a company called webasto. webasto - hollandia i think is the full name.
aside from being a little small - they are ok - not great. if you want a larger portal above your head - there are three choices
install a webasto 3630(?)39"x18" it's over twice the size, should run about $700 installed.
install a pop top removable glass panel
install a custom ragtop - there are quality european cabrio rag tops you can use -
personally - i'd go with the ragtop on a d2. you'd have the room to but one in - just. and you you be able to stand up out of your seat and shoot your camera.....
then go with a half rack from arb for the rear of the car and you're all set for adventure!!

I have a 2K DII with dual roofs, I haven't had a problem with mine, nor heard of anyone having problems with them, among the usual (typically sand in the tracks from taking the car on the beach with the sunroof open... But I've never heard of anything else...
Get them!

I am with DM, I have 01'SE Disco and have not one issue with roofs, or any other items on this tank. But keep them closed when going off road b/c clean up is a mother (dust and sand everywhere).

We have the dual moon roofs on our 01 DSII. I never have been (and still am not) a fan of these things. My husband loves them. Good. He will get to fix them when they start causing trouble and become a big PIA.

Kim, can you provide any reason as to why they may break, and need fixing? Any reason you don't like them?

DM,
No, none whatsoever (yet) I just figure sooner or later it's (or they are) just one more thing to go wrong and have to fix (I tend to hold onto my vehicles a VERY long time). Also hard for mounting perm roof racks. Then again, I didn't like having electric windows in an offroad vehicle either, so you can see how goofy my train of thought is. This is supposed to be our daily driver and family car, so I have to admit, I like having electric windows, and I like the fact that I can valet park the thing without feeling too embarassed. Like I signed off (and my hubby would agree) I'm just being "Scrooge". Pay no mind ....

Mine leaked (rear only) during heavy rain and had to be repalced the water collected in the track and came in through the ac vents I had to get a new headliner and rear sunroof assembley.
