Hello everyone!

I used to own a manual 96 Disco, but I rolled it during a trip to Moab in May of this year. If you read Land Rover World magazine the September 2001 issue featured my truck on its roof as its f-stop!

Apparently though someone caught the roll on video and there has been mention of that video circulating online. I'd love to get my hands on that video if at all possible. The Disco was red and it crashed after I failed a hill climb in a sandy gorge, resulting in two full rolls.

If anyone has seen or heard of a video clip of this, I would *LOVE* to get my hands on it.

Thanks to everyone for any help that you can provide.

Jason,

Saw the article. Was the Disco totalled? You say "used to own". What replaced it?

What happened/caused it? Anything in particular?

Glad everyone was OK.

Jeff

Hey Jeff! Thanks for asking.

The truck was a total loss. It was caused by two things, a failed hill climb and weight on the roof. I wasn't able to get it into reverse (as it was a manual) and I didn't get to the parking break ontime before it started a rather speedy decent backwards. To try and avoid slamming into other Rovers parked near the base of the trail, I turned off at a plateau but weight on the roof sent the truck side over side, twice. Interestingly, it was a slow roll, everyone said the truck almost made it without rolling, but alas, I wasn't so lucky.

Or was I? My "new" Rover is a NAS Defender 110, #165/500! I found it for sale two days after my epic journey to get back to San Francisco from Moab. I bought it the day I spotted it. The 24 hours I spent in a rental car (got once back in SF) made me dread ever having anything other than a LR. Yes, I am insane...

Oh, and I had 4 other people on the trip with me, thankfully none of which were in the truck when it rolled. We hitched rides with over Rovers on the way back...

Out of morbid curiousity, how was the reaction/assitance of your insurance company?

A D110? I guess you could call that stepping up. ;-)

My insurance was spectacular, all things considered. Without wanting to get into all of the specifics, I was fully covered and then some. I was able to pay off the remainder on the truck and put the rest towards my new Rover. They were helpful, friendly and open to discussing all aspects of compensation for the accident. When they gave me an inital quote I countered with another and based on the information I gave them, they accepted it.

I wonder though if I'll ever have a chance of seeing that supposed video clip...
