I am going to North Carolina this summer, Boone specifically. Any trails or nice roads in the Piscah National Forest or other areas near Grandfather Mountain/Banner Elk areas?

I know Uharrie is up there but east of where I will be.

Nope, nothing public. Your only public options (outside of hidden powerline trails) are Hurricane Creek west of Asheville, Uwharrie (as you mentioned), and Tellico which is west of Murphy on the TN/NC border. We're running Tellico the first weekend in June if you're interested. If you find anything around Boone, let me know -- I'm up there all the time & would love to go run it with you.
