Will drive my stock DiscoII to hollister this weekend for the first offroad trip. Have some question.

Do I need to lower the tyre pressure in Hollister? If I do, What psi?

Which trial(s) I should avoid for my first offroad trip?

Thanks

---Charlie

I wouldn't worry about it...I run it at 40psi and don't usually lower it, no biggie...

however don't go in the Mud Pit, and Don't do Tank Trap. I'm sure there are some others to avoid, use your best judgement. If it gets nerve racking, turn around. They give you a map, its marked like a ski hill, Blue, Green, Black, so it should give you an idea.

Have fun!

Go watch the people attempt the mud pit...thats kinda funny

when i was there last week, i didn't have to lower the PSI. Green areas are just basically fire road trails -- if it wasn't for the loose gravel now and then in small inclines, you wouldn't need 4 wheel drive. The blue trails are intermidiate, but most of them are easy as well. The trails are narrower and the hills are steeper. There some areas where gouges have been carved off, but nothing too difficult. When coming down the steeper hills, I recommend you switch to low range and 2nd or 1st gear and you will save your brakes. the ranger will tell you to stay out of the black trails and that's a good idea since the truck is stock.

i was tempted to go into the mud pit, but there was no one around and i didn't know how deep it was, so i didn't want to get stock in there until someone pulled me out. how bad is it?

The mud pit....if its just mud and no water...is about 3 feet of goo, stinky nasty goo. I saw a lifted jeep, with like 38 inch tires try it...unsuccessfully. Do a search on yahoo for hollister hills mud pit you can judge for yourself.

Went to Hollister for my first offroad.
It was a blast!! Went to most of the green, and tried some blue. There were one downhill slop on West Trail that I almost lost my truck... That was going north, downhill, before Quarry. I think I should go to some classes or have someone guide me before I try it again. Got scratched on the plastic piece below the rear door on the right side. It was ok... Still it is the best driving I have ever had...
Thanks for the info from everyone.
