Hollister is certainly a good place to play around with my truck, however I would like to know if anyone would know any other offroad place (light offroad) to go where I can take a camping trip and hae some nice place to visit during a trip. I am planning a 3 days trip where I can go offroad, visit some nice place, and camping in somewhere near SF Bay Area.
Thanks

---Charlie

Try Big Sur...

Trails could include the Old Coast Road (North of Big Sur off SR1). At Big Sur proper, you've got trails such as Los Burros Road (4006) & Costal Ridge Loop (20S05). Both include runs up to a few thousand feet with some spectular views.

The off roading is pretty mild (I doubt you'll use CDL), but the camping is nice. Just be ready to pay about $3.00 for premium at the mom and pop gas stations there. I like the Old Coast Road myself. Very scenic drive.

Thanks.... That sounds good.
How's the weather there at late October?

We camped there in late August. The weather was nice (warm days and cool nights). We drove through there last weekend on the way to San Francisco and it was still pretty nice.

I haven't tried any of these yet, but I stumbled across this.

I wanted to explore them at some point in time. Not sure when. If you decide to check them out let me know

Scott, thanks for the info.
I will try to check the trail out.
Probably in October.

i just did corral hollow, slick rock road to utica resevoir, and deer valley! all fun roads..deer valley can really mess your stock truck up if you dont know what you are doing or are really careless, but boy is it fun!!!, slick rock road is a really fun road. takes you past silver creeK that runs over smooth granite...lots of granite (smooth) everywhere. corral hollow is a fun road with some minor fun obstacles...stock disco can do all of these.if you are in experienced do corral hollow then slick rock to silver springs..walk beyond this point to see if you can do the rest...do not do deer valley if you do not know whaty you are doing...have fun...let me know if anyone is ever interested in going and meeting up there for a run
