Hey guys, I am thinking about going up to Tellico in a couple of weeks and never having been there before I was hoping for some input about the trails. I have a completly stock S1. Any thoughts on trails to take or avoid? Any input is appreciated.

I would avoid Tellico. The easiest trails are going to be very challanging to a stock truck. There are some websites that have some info on Tellico. I think one is tellico4x4.com or something. it has descriptions of the different trails. If you go, be prepared that your truck will not look the same when you are done.

have fun

Was just there this past weekend. Received a ding on my left side passenger door.

You will need protection underneath, rock sliders and preferably a winch. I went up Trail 5 and parked the Disco and rode shotgun in a D-90 for Guardrail.

A Disco is really NOT the ideal vehicle to take to Tellico as you cannot run all the trails without doing significant panel damage. The trails can ne tight.

Thanks for the input guys. You saved me a trip. I'll wait until later this summer after the TT/TT and winch install. Again, thanks.

why not go to the uwharrie Safari on the 20-22. It should be great fun. I will be there and I know a few other discoweb regulars will be there. There are trails a stock truck can handle and there will be guides and everything.

ok, I have a new 2001 Disco LE. I want to do some off-roading and was considering tellico. What mods are a must for theses trails?

A must? You'll probably get a few different opinions, but . . .
1. Plenty of off-road seat time before attempting anything more than Trail 1
2. Realize that damage is a VERY real possibility
3. rocksliders
4. f&r tow points
5. front diff guard
6. lift
7. the larger, more aggressive the tire - the better
8. go with someone experienced who knows the area and you trust to spot

These are the minimum. Aftermarker front and rear bumpers, underbody protection, a winch, and lockers aren't a bad idea (some of the trails are impossible without a winch and/or lockers).

You may even want to ride shotgun with someone first so you know what you're getting into-
Good luck-
Troy
