I am looking for some rovernuts to head out with or direct me to some good trails in N. Cali.

I just moved out a couple of years ago and was finally able to afford my 97 "Max" Discovery. Nothing done to it...YET! but building towards it. Have a Wife...to BE!! which I think can be more difficult than a wife!?

Just got a disco months ago and would like some lite run. Went to Pismo Beach last weekend but didn't get onto the sand dune. But it ran perfectly on the beach and crossing the little creek. My car is stock, so please let count me in for some lite day trip.

Okey Mike, I am thinking of driving my TRUCK up to Hollister this or next weekend just to see what it is up there. Are there any trails in Hollister that is really easy for a first timer to go alone? or anyone want to come along?

Again, my TRUCK is fairly new and I have never driven my old car (my old A4) or my TRUCK (my new disco) anywhere off the pavement (except when I made some bad U-turns).

Recommandation? suggestion?

hollister is a really killer place..all kinds of fun terrain to run around on and go crazy.....just go there and explore around...you get a "map" of the place that shows you the main trails. Not all trails are on this map..try going around roads like garner flat, macray rd, and foothill...these are the super easy rds...get a feel for your truck then head over to bonaza gulch rd..and definitly take your truck up fremantia rd...its a black diamond hill climb (miss rated) and the stock disco does it no problem in high gear...good place to use your differential..throw it into low when you go downhill over technical stuff to slow you way down...and in general going over tech stuff....your truck just crawls and does the work...dont be afraid to push it a little with your stock disco...its really capable...i have taken my truck all over hollister and i always blow people away with what it does...have super fun maybe i will join

Thanks jmon, your information is greatly appreciated. I am definitely going to hollister this weekend to explore some easy trail. I will go by myself for some easy stuff. Any first timer want to join? Or maybe experienced ones who don't mind guiding me?

yahoo. hollister was fun. i took my stock '96 Disco last weekend and it was awesome. i am a beginner, but i hoping to gain some experience. i wasn't planning on going this weekend since i went last week, but maybe i will again. Charlie, I will e-mail and see how many people are planning on going.

Hollister has a lot of stuff to do and it is up to you how much you want to do. i am not really pushing the truck because i am new to off roading and new to the truck, but even so i still had a lot of fun over there. they have mini obstacle corse and lots of trails to explore -- even some sand hills you can climb. Anyway, as I said, I will e-mail you.
