THE FOLLOWING WAS SENT BY AN ECONOMIST WITHIN THE FUEL INDUSTRY. ANOTHER ECONOMICS PROFESSOR AT CAL REITERATED THE SAME LAST WEEK. I THINK IT IS WORTH TRYING.

I got this from a reliable source & the website listed is legit. We heard today from a man who is very savvy about the economy, namely, Clark Howard, and he says that the gas prices are going to start going up again and will be high this summer-$2.00 and up. We need to do whatever we can, and do it NOW!!!!

This makes more sense than the don't buy gas on a
certain day routine that was going around last year re: Gasoline Prices. Whoever started this has a good point. By now, you're probably thinking gasoline priced at about $1.49 is cheap. Me too, as it is now $1.58 for regular unleaded!

Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a gallon of gas is CHEAP at less than $1.50, we need to try an aggressive response. With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to take ACTION!

The only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we don't buy it. But, (as the gas companies know full well, and are counting on), that's not really a practical option since we all have come to rely on our cars. But we CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together.

Here's the idea: For the rest of this year, don't
purchase gasoline from the two biggest companies
(which now are one), namely EXXON and MOBIL. You
see, if they are not selling, they should be inclined, (i.e., "forced"), to reduce their prices. And, because of their size, and hence market share, if they reduce their prices the other companies will too. (They would HAVE no choice!). Isn't that a "juicy" prospect? But
to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of users. But it's do-able!

Acting together we can make a difference. If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on, or one you compose, to at least 10 more E-mail addresses. PLEASE HOLD OUT UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO BELOW $1.28 - $1.29 AND KEEP THEM DOWN. THIS CAN REALLY WORK!

If you're not outraged, you're not paying attention!

Sounds like a plan...but I'll just drive my '85 Saab 900T (28 mpg+)more over the summer and save the Rover for the towing and 7 seater trips we do.
Still have to get it to idle properly though!!!!!!

That's a brilliant idea. When we stop buying gas from Exxon/Mobil, all we'll do is give that $200+ billion to the other conglomerates -Chevron/Texaco/Shell/Saudi Aramco, BP/Arco, Phillips/Tosco, etc. We all need gas and will continue to buy it from one brand or another, they know it; only a true boycott (i.e. NOT using gas at all) can make a difference.

Don't buy gas from ExxonMobil? Darn, Mobil Super+ is some of the best Premium gas on the market. Oh well. But I agree with Bluegill. The only way to make a difference is don't buy gas, period. Unfortunately, how many paople can really do that?

It's funny, everyone complains about the price of gas being soo high but nobody wants to do anything about.

I can understand if you live in an area where you depend on your car or truck and you have no choice but to buy gas. But if you are in a city where you can either walk or talk public transportation why not do so? I know I will.

But it seems to me that no one wants to make the min effort to do anything about it.

I know everyone is going to write back and yell at me .... but what the heck... I like pissing people off.

John, if you are so concerned about gas prices, why did you buy a Disco? On a good day, they get about 13 mpg. Why don't you go out and buy one of these Honda gas/electric cars? I like my Disco and don't mind paying for the gas.
If you are truly concerned about gas prices, write your senators / congressmen about our lack of an energy policy. We are so completely reliant on OPEC for oil that we don't have a choice but to accept higher prices. We are sitting on a huge resource of oil - Alaska. But the environmentalists have scared us into thinking that if we drill for oil, we might kill Bambi. If the price of oil falls, the price of gas falls; econ 101.

it's because people like me will gladly pay more for gas than have the whole countryside raped just to get that last drop of oil.. and yes my disco gets 12mpg.

i'd rather buy from OPEC and let them drain their country. if World War Three hits then maybe think about alaska... until then i'd like to keep our shit as pristeen as possible.

Hey Mike, I don't own a Disco: I own a RR. I also own a CJ7. I didn't complain about the price. I'm used to paying up to $4 a gallon. I was just posting an informative letter that was sent to me by a friend.
