What have you folks used for changing your spark plugs. I used a regular socket yesterday, but am a bit afraid that I couldn't torque a couple of them down enough because of the tight holes. Did you get a special socket?

Thanks,

Tom

I use a u joint attachment on the spark plug socket to make sure I get a good angle at them.

Same here. Works for me, even with a torque wrench.

I had no problem getting at them, it is just that the wall of the socket was thick. On a couple plugs when i torqued them down, the socket was locked on tight between the plug and the area around it. Had to back it off, put the socket on not quite all the way, and then retighten, but maybe not enough...

...ohhhhh, wait a minute. Are you asking if there's a special socket to use for spark plugs? Yes, there is. You need to get one, as I can't see how you can even tighten the plugs at all with a regular socket. Pick one up at an autoparts store (spark plugs come in standard sizes, so there should only be one socket to choose from)

Yes...the special spark plug one in my toolkit was 5/8". Too small. All but two sockets worked just fine with my 13/16" socket. The 5/8" didn't seem to have a much thinner, wall though, so I don't kow if the 13/16" spark plug socket would help. I'll check it out. Thanks,

Tom
