Just venting here. I just had to buy a small piece of plastic for the headlight and it cost me $7.00 at LR. So I was thinking does anyone know how much a Disco would cost if you bought it piece by piece at LR and put it together yourself? I think we are driving $250,000 vehicles!!

Even a Hyundai is worth 10 times it sale price in parts - that's why chop shops exist! Automotive manufacturers consistently have higher profits generated from their Service/parts side than the production side.

so we might be driving $400,000 vehicles. That sounds much better. If anyone wants my Disco I am willing to part with it for $350,000.

$7.00? c'mon, i dont think that will really set you back much. If you want , build a socket yourself, im sure it would cost you more. sometimes i wonder, do we have nothing better to write about??

It wasn't the money it was the priciple (it was the money!) Even though I think we have a great LR dealer in Cary, NC I hate using them. I had to get this part from them to pass a NC inspection and I just hated it. Not to mention the fact that it cost $5.00 in gas to drive from Raleigh.
Could everyone here please send me $7.00 b/c it doesn't seem like a lot of money to everyone else.
3.5 gallons of gas

I think you bought the wrong vehicle Rob, something Japanese would have suited you better. If you have this much issue with a $7 part for your Discovery, you have much agony ahead of you....

I guess you didnt get your Burger King that day huh? The days funds went for a headlight socket eh? hey man some days are like that. You better either get used to it or slap on the big FOR SALE sign and pick up one 'dem snappy new Toyota Echos. Then you could get cross country on 3.5 gallons o gas. Im lucky if i can get out of my driveway on 3.5 gallons. hehehe

I guess I deserved all of this but I still want all of you to send me $7.00. I think i'll start a Disco chain letter if you send me $7.00 only good things will happen to you while in your LR. If you do not the little plastic socket thing will on your headlight will break and your Disco will start dripping oil. Also your cargo holder on your door will crack and the rear door will sag.

Hmmmm...my Disco already drips oil, my cargo holder on my door already cracked, my rear door already sags, BUT the 7-bone socket hasn't bit it yet. Looks like Lucas beat you to the Disco hex...
