Will a hoemlink from a 2001 Disco II work in a series 1. My 96 looks to have all the wires needed.

Yep, they are the same unit. On a humorous side note, you can even splice in a 9-volt battery and use it as a regular garage door opener.

why would u want it? homelink bites crank. all it causes is problems. use the garage opener, it will save u alot of headaches

You should try the X-10 interface for your Homelink. I've been using X-10 controls for years and love it! Nothing like pulling up in the driveway to a lit house!

I referenced my homelink wiring in my 96 Discovery and found that the connector had four leads in it with three wires running in. When I looked at my friends module, he had a square connector with 2 wires running into it. I am puzzled as to why land rover recommends the same part number, but my unit has a flat connector where his is square.
