I have used it on several components that are rusting like the fuel evaporator mounting plate. I have had it on for only three weeks, so it is really too early to tell how well it really works. My initial impression is that it will work as advertised. I am probably going to try in on a few more parts (like a section of my diff) to see how tough it really is.

I purchased the clear version in one of their starter kits because several of my lug nuts were rusting badly where the lug nut goes through the rim. The plating had worn off and there was lots of rust. I live in florida and drive in deep water and lots of sand. It's humid here most of the time. I cleaned of the rust using the POR equivalent of Naval Jelly and then sanded them lightly. I painted the steel surfaces of the lug nuts with the clear POR15. Now I have very smooth and shiny lug nuts. I tried it just to see what would happen on 5 lug nuts. I though the pressure and vibration would affect the coating, but it has been three weeks and I have had the tires off twice in that time and the lug nuts still look perfect.

Hello All,

POR 15 is great stuff. I've used it for touch ups, and to do a couple of Bumpers on another truck. The real proof for me though was a friend of mine that runs a snow removal company. He has a Couple of older UNIMOGs he uses for plowing and spreading salt. He told me that he was stripping and repainting the frames every year because of the corrosive conditions they operated in. He tried the Por 15 Three years ago, and hasn't needed to strip and repaint yet!

One word of Caution though, don't get this stuff on your Skin. If you do you can get it off with POR 15 Solvent if you get right away, after a couple of minutes you are SOL. It will disappear with your shedding skin layers over the course of a month or so though....

Just a quick note about POR: IT IS GREAT!!!! I have used it for many years in all sorts of vehicles. We did our shop trailer with it last year (subjected to snow & salt. has not had any reoccurence of rust. Just follow the instructions and you will be pleased.
