Is the Disco's speedo sensored electronically, or by the old cable/gear method? I want to make an attempt at getting a beter reading after upgrading to 265/75-16 tires and I'm looking for input. Thanks in advance!

It's completely electronic with no drive cable or anything (post '93 models). A lot of the times the problems people have with their speedos is due to faulty wiring or a bad sensor (usually both). You can clean-up the VSS (speed sensor) and transducer, and have the speedo calibrated (to your tires) at a shop, and it'll probably work fine. Interestingly enough, I fitted a set of 265/75R16 tires on my truck once just for squirts and giggles, and it corrected my speedometer's 7 mph error to make it dead-on accurate with a GPS unit. So you can calibrate your speedo, or buy a portable GPS unit - costs about as much. Hope it helps!

Thanks, I didn't use a GPS but did compare mileage using the mileage signs vs. my odometer and found that over a 56 mile run I was measuring only 51.3 or about 8.5% off. Now the speedo may be a different ball game all together. The reason I asked was because of the Superlifts TruSpeed speed sensor calibrator that's available, and if it will work on our Disco's.
