What type of CB setup are people using? Is there a preferred brand of radio or antenna? Also, where are the typical locations for mounting the radio? Thanks

I installed my Cobra 25 on the passenger side of the center console. You mount it right before the spot where the console goes up to meet the dash and still have plenty of room to move the passenger seat. I drilled 3 holes with a Dremel and used 3 small machine screws and fender washers to secure the mounting bracket. The power cable is easy to route through the dash and to the fuse box. The coax isn't hard to put under the carpet out the back door to the spare tire carrier. I installed the antenna onto the spare tire carrier with no spacers and have no clearance problems. I have the stock 235/70 on the stock spare rim. If you want pictures or anything else, just ask me.

I mounted my cb/weather band in the same spot. Seems to work well. The only thing I did was mount my 4' tunable FireStik antenna to the top of the rear bumper. The right side of the bumper and just offset from the endcap. Had to drill a nice hole, but I can't mount anything higher since I park in a very low garage and have no room to spare. The rear tire mount looks good though.....I have seen the pics. Check out Firestiks antennas.....they are tunable and seem to be the favorte amount the hardcore crowd.

I have a "WalMart special" Uniden. I mounted it in front of the sunroof switches, without drilling any holes.

I simply bolted a piece of 1" wide aluminum flat rod to the regular CB mount, drilled a center hole through both and then removed the overhead console to place a 3" long piece of the same aluminum bar on the top side of the little removeble switch cover on most early model Discos. An 1.5" bolt goes from the bottom side of the CB bracket and throught the 3" peice overhead and a nut on the top. Tighten it all down and I have an overhead mounted CB that will leave no holes if I decide to remove it. Also, I simply ran the wiring inside the storage area above the visor and down the pillar trim next to the windshield. I hope that all makes since. I really like having my CB overhead because I can hear it without having the volume set super high and it doesn't get in the way.

I use a good flexible metal antennea ~4' tall, mounted on an L bracket from the inside the front fender. It is mounted on the drivers side, right across from the radio antennea. It is flexible enough to handle all the branches and tall enough to get good reception. It also has a tunable base.

If you mount your antennea on your front or rear bumper or on your spare tire carrier then be sure to get a top loaded firestick style.

I do not preferr the rigid antennea's for pretty appearant reasons during offroad travel.

I also added my CB in the same location as the first two people. I choose to mount my antenna in the roof of my Disco which meant I had to drill a hole in the roof. Good place for it high and in the center of the vehicle. Ran the coaxical between the headliner down the pillar post, and over to the transmission tunnel, for power source I used the power sullply for what would be the cd changer that would go under the passenger seat. Hot wire all the time and made it easy for the power source.

Oh yeah, I added an accessory fuse panel that is always hot and I have pluged my CB and GPS into it for now I will also move my cigarette lighter over to it sometime.
