I've got standard 205 80 R16's and want to go up in diameter to about 31" so I'm considering 215 85's. Are these too tall & skinny and likely to cause understeer on road. I think these are the metric equivalent of the 7.0 R16's that they have used in previous Camel Trophy events. 245 75's are also the same diameter but the extra width may be a problem - especially with snow chains. My suspension is only about an inch over standard and firm. Any good tyre brands in an A/T type would be appreciated. BFG Trac Edge seem good - so too the Cooper CTD. I am mostly on road but want something that will "work" off road.

I ran 215/85-16 Trac Edges for a couple of years and they were fine. Seemed a little "greasy" in the corners when they were new, but that may have been my imagination too.

They fit well, provided a little extra room under the diff and were great in the snow.

They've since been replaced by 7.50-16 TracEdges and OME HD springs all round.
