Before asking the question.....I just wanted to say that the search function on this board kicks but!!

Anyhow...after reading some of the previous posts, as well as the explanation in the tech section.......I think I may truly have a stepper motor problem, however, the electrical system also seems to be acting up with this. I've had to reset my radio code and the clock keeps losing time! Is there any relation the stepper motor and these electrical faults?

Any help, as always....greatly appreciated!!

Did I mention this board kicks butt!?!?

Since you did not mention that your battery is going flat, I'll assume that your battery and alternator are functioning properly. Ususally, the next thing to suspect is a bad ground. The clock and the radio codes must be reset when juice is interruped to the vehicle (well at least to the clock and the radio). Check your grounds. Seeing the age of your Disco, it is not unreasonable that one of your grounds is faulty (corroded, most likely or loose). I don't remember if you have an electronic fuel system or not in the 94's, but lack of juice can cause the vehicle to cut out. I have seen this a number of times on the older Range Rovers with faulty alternators; they start cutting out at stop lights. Also, the Rangies experience a lack of power because there is not enough juice to power the pump properly.

LoL,
Mike

Thanks Mike! Your assumptions are correct....the alternator was just rebuilt about 2 years ago, and the battery is an Optima Yellow top....I just bought it last year....while they haven't been truly tested w/ a meter (I'll do that tonight), it does consistently start and run the electrics just fine. Aside from the main ground behind the battery, are there any other major ones that I can check?

Thanks again!
