My 96 Disco leaks about 1 quart every 4000 miles or so, and I change it every 6000 with AMS oil. I figure the amount I'm leaking is fine. I know I have a slight leak in the valve cover and the bottom of the pan is wet so it probably leaks somewhere underneith as well. But I was just curious how much oil everyone else leaks and what everyone else considers normal.

That's a lot of oil to leak in 4000 miles. You are probably burning more oil than you are leaking.

My '96 does not leak at all. I know that something must be wrong......my '94 use to and that was about a half quart every oil change. That is what I would deem normal, but my '96 is making me concerned.....a Rover not leaking oil? And yes there is oil in it....did not all leak out.

Really stupid...but check the tightness of the oil pan bolts...mine were ALL loose enough for a good sized oil leak. BTW...the so called specialist in this area north of NYC who had better remain nameless couldn't figure out the leak for my friend who owned this 94 Disco before me...took me about 5 minutes to retighten everything and it no longer leaks....OK, OK...a drop or 2 a month ...MAYBE!!!
