Okay, my VIN is SALJY1241SA117059. Basically, what does the "SA" part stand for? I'm asking because I've run into problems buying parts in the past where a certain part would only apply to vehicles "up to GA," for example. I'm guessing that would be "GA117059," were my truck a "GA." What makes a "GA" or a "KA" or any other -A not compatible with, say, an "SA?" Does that have to do with sourcing of certain lots of parts, or is that an annual production code indicator? I'd like to know, so if anybody knows this stuff, or anything else about decoding Land Rover VIN numbers, please help me out. Thanks!

Take a look here for a synopsis:

The "S" is model year 1995.

Thanks. I checked it out, and it was kinda like I figured; a year indicator. So that makes sense.
