Does any on where I can purchase a Land Rover "Gulf States" Grill like the one used on the 2000 TREK series IIs? It is a mesh egg-crate type of grill. Or, does anyone know of any other custom grills that can be put on a 1997 Disco. I saw someone with a Billet one, but it didnt look right, I was always thinking of pre-94 200 series Euro Disco Grills. Does anyone know if that would fit? any ideas in general?

When I went to the Middle East last summer, all the Discos there had a mesh grill with the Land Rover oval badge in the middle. So I went to the LR dealership and asked where I can get one. They said that they can ship it to America and it would cost like $150(most of it was for shipping). It is a bolt-on replacement. The reason why they did it there in the ME is because of the desert heat and dust, the plastic one would melt.(hot as hell in Bahrain!!) I can probably get one if you want.

If you can find a part number ANY rover dealer should be able to get it. It won't be in their books but if they run the Part number you will get a price and they can order it. I have gotton all sorts of cool stuff this way. Another option would be to call roversnorth. They seem to be able to find stuff like this pretty easily too as they are an official parts supplier. It will probably cost more but you should be able to get it.
Cheers

This grille is part of the Kalahari package that LRNA is importing effective later this year. Therefore should be available at US dealers soon

Coming from the ME, I have seen both DIs and DIIs with this grill...
It is used in order to filter more bugs than the plastic one, and is made of meshed steel (not sure if aluminum or what)...in order not to deform or melt in the sun.
I believe in form follows function, so unless you live in Arizona, i do not think you need it...

well maybe not, but it sure looks cool.

If you go to www.thegearshop.co.uk, then go to part enquiery or e-mail til Mr Jonathan Prowse, he will help you out.
The cost will be approx £200,- (aprox. USD 300,-) + postage. Probably 50% off the US price.
