At 5000 Miles my drivers side window regulator broke and the windows hit bottom, has anyone else had this problem with their disco2?

Adam, Sounds like Rover has not changed the design of the window regulator for the disco II.
I have a '97 Disco I and have had my drivers regulator replaces twice under warranty (within 30,000 miles). I also had the other window regulators replaced under warranty before they actually 'broke' to the point where the window fell into the door as you have described. You can tell that they are going to break when raising the window creates a 'popping' sound. I have ask a Land Rover technician about how to prevent damage to the window regulator. Only answer was, try not to abruptly change direction when opening or closing the window.....at least it's under warranty, just get your dealer to replace it :-)
