When I first got my 96 it leaked water like a sumbitcheverytime it rained. Little silicone here and there (basically all four corners of the drip rail) and the problem was solved. Or that's what I thought.

Now, the passenger footwell space seems to get very wet whenever it rains (under the floormat). So I guess the water is coming from the bottom up. Is there some sort of drain plug or something, maybe for the A/C, that I'm missing that could be causing this area to get wet? But that doesn't make sense either, because it only happens when it rains.

Where's my leak? Thanks.

I've heard it happen that the intake vent for the heater/vent will leak if enough water accumulates in the duct there under the rear edge of the hood. Sometimes if I spray the water hose in that area enough when washing the truck there'll be a few drips on the passenger side floormat. But it's never a lot of water. Never had any leaks from rain there, either.

Is it when sitting or after you drive? If it is after a drive it could be a hole in the floor board. The POS rust through pretty quick if you live in the northeast.

Pull up the carpet and look.

Thanks Ron, I'll check when I get home from work. It is after I drive, not when sitting, to the best of my knowledge.

I've never really looked at the crapet much; is it a pain in the rump to get under it? Any tips?

Thanks again

It should be easy to get up. 1996 seems young for rust but since I have seen it on 95 RRCs I am thinking it is quite possible. It should be easy. There is the trim peice on the sill and there will be some padding underneeth. Pull it up and dry it out. If it has been sitting wet for a good while you may have surface rust on top. Probably will be moldy and smell nasty too. Also if you look up from under the truck you can see problems if it has gotton bad enough. There is undercoating down there but you should be able to see any holes if they have developed. Also check to make sure the door seal is good although I don't think that would be the culprit. I will get some picks of some of the floorboard I have seen, NOT pretty, and real easy to fix if you catch it early.

I am guessing your drain plug is clogged. This would occur only if you are using your air conditioning which if it was raining and it was hot outside your windows would be closed.
It would take about 2 seconds to clear. Under your truck on the passenger side there is a plastic nipple. (seriously) The airconditioning condensation runs through here. If it gets clogged up with something (most likely dog hair) it drains right into the well of the passenger side. Climb under the truck right and pull what ever is clogging it out. you might also want to run a hanger up there to make sure you have everything.
Good Luck.
