I have a 96 Disco with 52,500mi. and my SERVICE engine light came on. I know that this is a reminder for an emission check-up. I found the emission reminder box behind the passenger side kick panel. I poked a pin thru the hole covered by the sticker, but the light is still on. I tried inserting the pin at different angles, but could not feel anything similar to a button. Am I doing something wrong? Please help with any advise. Thanks, Keith

gotta push real far. you'll hear/feel the contact open up. also do it with the key in the "ON" postition.

I opened my box and found two pins. When I bent one to make contact(just for a second) between the 2 , the light went off.Try that.

Here is what you should try: Unplug the box. When you do this, then turn the car on. If the light goes off then you will know that nothing else is wrong. At this point, you have two options-throw it away, or fix it. Option one shouldn't require me to explain the process. Option two is interesting... Take a screw driver and pry the "red" cover off of the "gray" base. Attached to the "gray" base is a computer chip. At the top are 2 little wires that stick out. Fasten these two wires together and you're set.

I have a 95 disco and my check engine light is on. What can I do to turn it off? My emission stuff is under the passenger seat.
