THIS IS MY FIRST POSTING AS WELL AS MY FIRSY DISCO CANT TELL YOU HOW MUCH I LOVE THE THING. i NOW HAVE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON CHECKED ALL FLUIDS SO IT MUST BE SOMETHING ELECTRICAL. iT DOES RUN ROUGH AT IDLE AND IS IDLING JUST BELOW 750. aNY THOUGHTS AS TO THE PROBLEMS. ALSO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING IT SEEMS TO LOCK-UP WHILE DRIVING IE. TURNING CORNERS INTO DRIVEWAY OR JUST TURNING CORNERS . IT DOESNT HAPPEN ALL THE TIME AND THE FLUID IS FULL.

Forget the check engine light....your steering 'locking up' sounds much more serious. Perhaps someone incorrectly adjusted the lash on your steering box at some point. That would make it lock up.

No offense, but you need to have someone more qualified than yourself take a look at it before you hit the highway. It needs to be fixed before you drive the car.

Dave: Thanks for the return but its not as bad as I had described. Ehen I turn the wheels from lock to lock sometimes the steering does not move . Almost like Iam fighting hydrolic pressure , and yes I am very qualified to fix my beast (been a diesel mech. for many years.)All I wanted to know if anyone has had the same problem and what was there fix. I may not no much about Disco's yet but they are fairly easy to work on and most parts that have to be replaced periodicly are very easy to get at.
