I am replacing the brakes pads this weekend. What grease are you supposed to smear on the brake shows to prevent the vibrations that cause squeaks? It was on the site, but without the search engine, I can't find the info!

Thanks in advance,
Mike

Wouldn't suggest anything other than healthy quantities of anti-sieze on the backing plates. RTV's do not have the temperature resistance required for brake systems (no where near!). All the anti-squeal crap is just RTV silicone. High-temp anti-sieze is best bet. Better bet - do not use genuine pads on the rear brakes- use soft organic Beck-Arnley pads - available inexpensively from brakeco.com

I did the rear brakes on my Disco. Service manual does not call for anything. I used original LR brake pads. The directions with the pads calls for a copper anit-sieze compound. I just went and bought Permatex Anti-seize lubricant. I have no problems with squeaks or anything.
