Do anyone know an aftermarket alternative to the electric fan in front of the condensor. The fan is made by Nippendenso (Japan) part number 065000-2320. I think Rover wants $200+ each. This is the fan that is mounted in front of the condensor (ie in front of the radiator) I will post an alternative if there is one later.

TIA

Ken

I'll be watching this closely as I needed one too. I have ordered one from Rover Connection for $234. I had to bite the bullet and do it although it's not here yet. I couldn't find a suitable alternative.

Well Scott,

I went to Toyota, Honda, and parts stores, but they can't seem to find a match. Nippendenso is very common Japanese Fan maker, but SOL. Here is what I did, SPAL fans (aftermarket) makes a fans with the exact mounting hole distance 6.1 inches times 10.5 inches. The only thing I will have to mod, is that, the LR fan mounting ear is 1/2 inch from the base (base is when you lay the fan flat on the table, the table being zero). What I am going to do is to space the Spal fan as close as possible to the condensor. I took one of the LR fan apart, the motor is a low CFM unit, it uses a disk amperture (the brushing had worn thru the disk, where Spal (and most endurance motor) are coils. My LR fan died after 80K miles, I think a Spal fan will last much longer, plus having about twice the CFM at 970 CFM

Here is SPal's web site. www.spal-usa.com it is the 11" fan push part number 30101502. And this is the pdf on the fan spec http://www.spal-usa.com/pdfs/11Fans.pdf

If you are some what handie, it is not hard to installed at all.

Two Spal fan $99/each at $200
Two LR fan ~$240+/each at ~$480

Hun? not a hard choice to make.

Good luck
Ken

That's good info. I bought an aftermarket fan thinking I could modify it to fit. Well, not so. I even fabricated new metal brackets to compensate for different mounting locations. There just wasn't enough room in there for all that stuff. That's why I ordered the OEM fan unit, although it STILL hasn't arrived. BTW, what is Roverconnection's reputation?

Rover connection? Don't know, I only order OEM stuff from Atlantic British (good customer service) I buy through a shop, so I get better price. If you are looking at the SPAL fan, the 11" have several thickness, make sure you get the right one.

Over and out!!

Ken
