Who has the top dog Disco in the photo gallery? Please vote, but FIRST look at ALL of the other first choices posted here before you vote (post your top dog).
My first place (from what I have seen) is Martin Geveke - Bochum, Germany. That green Disco is awesome, 35+ tyres? My #2 is our own Tom Pearson.

Personally I like Alyssa's but I am biased so.
It is too hard to chose. I mean you have Tom's truck, John's Rovertym truck, Paul's light brigade, Ho's Chickadee (sp), Nadim's flying disco and of course Brian's beast.

Ron, you kiss a$$$...just kiddin'
I like Brian's .... when it's running....
By Ron on Monday, May 21, 2001 - 02:46 pm: Edit |
Ya when I first met Brian he had the wheel off and was yanking out a broken cv and he was telling me about his new engine. Of course our disco was down two cylinders so I guess I should not talk about running and all. If he had left it with the giant hole in it from the tree he would get my vote for sure.

Chris and Lisa's Green Machine... Less the SG 3 link of course!
By Kyle Van Tassel (Kyle) on Monday, May 21, 2001 - 03:12 pm: Edit |
Why no mention of Axel's disco? Its been further and done more then any of the ones mentioned so far... Or is this a "Cool" thing?
Kyle

Thank you for the vote PaulM!
FYI though, I have the Stage III without the 3-Link.

Personally, I am a big fan of Marty Amedo's and John's (rovertym). I talked with both of them a lot before putting mine together. I am just trying to catch up!
Thanks for the mention though...when I told the ole' girl in the driveway, she shed a tear of joy.

Crack head , how exactly are you deciding the "Top dog disco" ??
Kyle
By Blue Gill (Bluegill) on Monday, May 21, 2001 - 05:31 pm: Edit |
Tom, are you sure that was a tear of joy and not just a new leak?
By Blue Gill (Bluegill) on Monday, May 21, 2001 - 05:32 pm: Edit |
Kyle - I think "Top Dog Disco" is probably 9 parts coolness factor and 1 part utility (we are going by photos, afterall).
By RVR OVR (Tom) on Monday, May 21, 2001 - 05:44 pm: Edit |
Leak? Probably!
I think Mike just started this up to have an arguement, anyway. Probably was hoping to get into it with Kyle some more! ;)
Must be the "coolness" factor. My truck doesn't have a lot of shit needed to win this competition. Lockers, winch, protection, etc. It's all on the way, though...

I think that this is the best combo:
1)Rovertym 3" suspension(with everything including helm-jointed rear links and Bilstein rear 9100 shocks and Rancho RS9000 front with incab control)
2)265/75-16 or 9 or 10/32-16 Goodyear Wrangler MT/R tires(or Super Swamper SSR's)
3)American Racing steel 16x7 wheels with beadlocks
4)GBR heavy duty front and rear axles
5)Tom Woods custom front and rear drive shafts
6)rear Detroit Locker and front True Trac
7)Land Rover full Roof-rack with 4 Hella HID lights and reverse lights
8)Rockware frame sliders, front and rear pinion guards
9)Rovertym extreme rock sliders
10)GBR 4.10 gearing
11)TJM bull-bar with a Warn 9,000lb winch,skidplate and 2 Hella HID lights
12)Safari Gard rear bumper with skidplate
13)High power headlights
14)rear light protectors
15)Hi-lift jack, Tow straps, snatch blocks and all the recovery gear
16)at least 2 more spare tires and some Jerry cans
17)4.6L Range Rover engine with a NRP exhaust,y pipes, K&N cone filter, dual Optima deep cycle batteries, performance chip.
18)Custom tranny skidplate
19)ABS plastic on base of engine to protect it against mud
20)ARB snorkel
21)heated front wind-shield
How about that?
By Gil Stevens (Gil) on Monday, May 21, 2001 - 06:31 pm: Edit |
how bout that?? what did you just drink alot of coffee?? That might be the way to go, as long as youve got an extra $40,000 lyin around doing nothing ( which Im sure we all do). I think the orginal question was of the pics in the gallery, which Disco is the best, not lets all build our dream Disco. Although, you pretty much covered everything, does anyone actually have ABS plastic under their motor??...

22)fuzzy dice from rear view mirror
23)neon under-chassic rock lamps
24)thumpin' radio in rear cargo area
25)dancing hula girl on dash
26)chrome coffee can exhaust tip
27)cow pattern seat covers
28)fringe trim on head liner
29)replace all trim with chrome
30)alloy foot shaped gas and brake pedal
31)chrome skull shift knob
32)curb feelers
33)incline-o-meter
34)mud flaps with silhouette of naked girl
35)steel wheels (just like Mikes!)

Kyle,
I don't know what to base it on. I just wanted to see what people came up with.
Has anyone taken the time to look at
Martin Geveke in Bochum, Germany? He is in the Gallery and you should take the time!
Proofing color pages for a new book on Wisconsin, not much time for Disco Web. Will be back around 7-8pm West time. I will be looking up the names you all post in the Gallery.
By Blue Gill (Bluegill) on Monday, May 21, 2001 - 07:30 pm: Edit |
I think that Martin Geveke just took some pictures of "Monster Rovers" he saw in Iceland or wherever. I think his beast is the tamer stock-looking bluish one with the monster-high roof rack. That white DII in his gallery looks like a Land Cruiser, doesn't it?

Jeff, you forgot to include the Wunderbaum air freshener from your list....
By Matt Milbrandt (95discovery) on Monday, May 21, 2001 - 09:42 pm: Edit |
I think Jens Störmer's '91 200TDI is definitely up there.
By Mikecrack man-according to Backyard-Kyle on Monday, May 21, 2001 - 10:51 pm: Edit |
MA,
You've got one hell of a Christmas list, you better marry up, as they say.
Jeff,
Very funny, I laughed out loud. Sounds like a South of the border Disco.
And of course the Low Rider and his tequila truck.
Words cannot express the deep emotions brought out by your handywork. I hope you get laid long and often in the back of that thing, because you sure brought a great 4x4 down. But I guess that was the point.
I will enjoy looking up some of these names.
By MA on Monday, May 21, 2001 - 10:52 pm: Edit |
Good job Jeff...I was thinking about that, but it didn't quite fit in with the rest of the stuff. You forgot to put comfy power leather heated seats. Oh...wait that already comes with most of our Discos along with wood trim and a CD-player! I was trying to make it as cool looking and functional as I can(to please everybody here). You just pretty much made an ass of yourself!! Good job Jeff. Gil, I agree with you that this is a dream list which no one(except for our true Disco freaks) will ever do. I just got to thinkin' and wrote away. Also, the Freelander has those mud protector things under the engine. Hey...there is nothing wrong with dreaming!
By Ho Chung (Ho) on Tuesday, May 22, 2001 - 11:51 am: Edit |
i see my chickety is mentioned above.
thanks but NO THANKS.
i dont' think it should in the same list with the junkyard warrior discos.
By Jeff Bieler (Mrbieler) on Tuesday, May 22, 2001 - 12:09 pm: Edit |
Actually MA, that's where you are wrong. All those things DO fit in with your list.
You see, the list doesn't make you cool. You can have all the toys and still be an a**hole. Or, you can have all the silly crap and still beat someones pants off on the trails.
You can run steel wheels and get stranded or you can run alloys and never see a failure. You can own a Disco and get it dragged across the parking lot by a big Chevy truck or you can own one and never have it see pavement again after it leaves Solihull.
There is nothing wrong with dreaming that doing can't correct.
By Ron on Tuesday, May 22, 2001 - 12:17 pm: Edit |
Aw Ho,
Chickety is top dog cause it looks so good, not a beater like the others.

"You can run steel wheels and get stranded or you can run alloys and never see a failure."
Not sure if I read this right, but Alloys do fail and in my case, worse than steels. At least you have a chance to bash a steel back into shape where as, my alloy is dented forever and unusable.
By RVR OVR (Tom) on Tuesday, May 22, 2001 - 01:25 pm: Edit |
Ouch...that hurt. Since when do I have a beater?
Tom
By Ron on Tuesday, May 22, 2001 - 01:26 pm: Edit |
I did not mean you. I was reffering to someone else's
I will shut up now.
