I was wondering if anyone else has had the same problem as me. I have a 97 SE Disco. Sometimes when I am filling the gas tank the pump will click off and stop. It acts as if the tank is full when I havent even begun to put gas in. No matter how fast or slow I try to pump the gas into the tank the pump keeps clicking off. This will happen if the tank is completely empty or half full. A little side note. When I first open the gas cap I do NOT hear a hissing noise of backpressure releasing from the tank. Should I? Please help. I am running out of gas.

I have a 97 Disco and had the same condition.
Go back to your dealer, they have a bulletin to fit this condition. They have to put an additional 'O' ring under the filler neck, takes about 15 minutes to do. Had it done a year ago and haven't had the problem since.

How 'bout try not shoving the nozzle all the way in the filler hole? It cuts off because the noxxle is pointed into the flow of gas, and gas flowing out of the end of the nozzle backs up against the cut-off breather and shuts the pump off. Just back the nozzle out a tad and try again. If it cuts off, back it out some more. It doesn't take much; you'd be surprised how much difference a little change in position makes when you're pumping :-)

try watching yourself in a mirror whilst filling her up to master your pumping technique, or take a video so you can relive the event in the privacy of your own home.

I don't think I would want to relive the event of spending $30 on gas.
