My '98 Disco has a wonderful rushing water noise. Seems to be isolated to the right dash. Nothing appears to be leaking. In fact, it seems to rush upon startup and some cornering. Is this a coolant system noise or am I about to get wet?

My 97 Disco does this too. Primarily it occurs when it hasn't been started up for quite a few days. Upon starting and warming up, I hear what appears to be water (quite a bit of it), rushing through some ducts or pipes behind the dash (right side). Nothing appears to be leaking or any problems occurring. As I rev up the engine while in neutral, it becomes louder with more rushing sound for a minute or so and then appears to slowly stop, never to be heard again unless I let the Disco sit for a few days. I've often wondered what's causing it?

It sounds like you have some air trapped in your cooling system.

I have a 99 SD and it does the same exact thing. Likewise, no apparent problems resulting from it. I hope it's just one of those "normal" , "it's a british kinda thing". :-)

i agree with dave. check the level of your coolant, it's probably a bit low. i filled mine up a little and that solved my noise.

It's just coolant rusing through your heater core.

Air in the coolant, add some more water with the engine cold. It will go away.
