I moved up to the 235/85 tires...
My power loss towing a boat up hill on the highway sucks!!
Right now, what I've been doing is switching to my stock rims/tires when I plan to tow anything.
To keep original power.
IM AFRAID to make the gearing change, because sometimes I road drive for a few weeks on stock tires.
And with the lower gear change and stock tires, I'll probably be over-reving the engine at 75mph??? RIGHT?
And what is stock gearing is in a disco I anyhow??
OH...and I should mention that I have a 5 speed..
Please shed some light?? --Thanks All

3.54 stock gearing. With 4.10's on stock tires you would be revving like mad.
If the only reason you are switching is to get back to original power, you wouldn't need to anymore with the 4.10's. Just stick with your 235/85's all the time.
If you are switching back and forth for reasons like mud vs. street tires, just get them all in the same size.
Another option might exist in 3.80 gears instead. This may give you an "in the middle" comprimise. Personally, I would just stick with 4.10's and 285's...

Just in case you're still interested, with 4.10 gears and stock tires, you'd be turning about 2500 rpm @60 mph, and a little under 3400 rpm @ 80 mph.
