Has anyone rigged up a hand throttle on a manual tranny Disco? Id like to do it for a couple of reasons, one being those instances where having a "third" foot would be helpful, the other would be to keep revs up for an auxillary device such as a welder. Ive seen kits for Wranglers and D90s, but nothing for Discos, Id imagine those could be modified to fit. I was also thinking line locks like you used to see on muscle cars, but Im not familiar with how they work. I was thinking i could rig a hand throttle using a bicycle brake lever, or something like an old Toyota handbrake (under the dash). Is this rdiculous? Has anyone done anything like this? Any input would be much appreciated.

Not ridiculous, quite easy. There is a little tab to attach the cable right on the throttle thingy on the engine. No mods necessary. Same as D90. Mount the thing whereever, really easy to do.

There's been several times in the past where I
thought a line lock would be handy since I also
run with a gearbox. I've seen descriptions on
their install in several US products and they
don't look to difficult. However, it's extra
hardware and I'm not sure it would be too easy to
find a location for it.

For the 3rd foot problem, I think a hand throttle
is the best bet. You could use it during winch
or weld situations, too.

If you come up with a good solution, let everybody
know !

Ditto!
If anyone has more info on hand throttles I would love to hear about it. I too have been considering mounting a hand throttle on my gear selector as there are many time when a "third foot" would be terribly handy.

There is a little tab on the throttle thing. This is the best i can explain it. Go and move the throttle thing under the engine and you will see it. You attach the cable there. Any old hand throttle will work. I personally like the lever kind but if you want a knob you can do that too. Just mount the thing up route the cable and you have hand throttle.
