I’m trying to decide which tires to purchase. I need a tire which has good off and on road manners. I have been leaning toward a set of BFG AT KO tires and these seem like a good compromise. I was told by a tire dealer due to the Disco’s weight I need to go with a tire of load rating of E ? I have thought about going with more aggressive tire except I wasn’t sure about the road noise and wet weather performance. I was looking at the BFG MT and Goodyear MT/R’s Are these tires able to handle dual roles as a daily driver in the city and off-roading on the weekend? I have a rack on my car and wasn’t sure how much nosier a set of MT tires would be versus an AT? Some folks have mentioned the MT/R tires are not much nosier than the stock tire? How do the BFG MT /Good Year MT/R handle on the road and in the rain? Are users of the MT tires using them as there daily driving tire?

Thank You

If you want a good tire for the trail and your Rover is mainly going on the road, then you should check out the Dunlop Radial Rover RT tires. The ride is actually better then stock! They will last a lot longer than any MT tire. Their tread pattern is something between a All-Terrain and Mud Terrain. Go here for more info:

If you want something that is built for off-road use and is OK for on-road use, then you should get some Goodyear Wrangler MT/R tires. From what I hear, they are unstoppable off-road and they clean out really good. They should be a little harsher on the street, but not to bad. They are a little expensive too, and they should last about 20,000 miles. If you are concerned with wet-snow/ice traction, then you would have to sip the tires. I too am deciding on which tire to get, I have heard good things about both. Personally I would get the MT/R's but I am "down in the hole" right now.

I just wanted to relay my Thoughts about the Dunlop Rover RT ( outstanding ) I was also trying to figure out what tire to get and decided to go with the RT from input here. The tires are great on the road and off road they preform good all around. Definitely not a compromise for the person looking to have one set of tires. I have 245/75-16

Futura from Pep Boys are a really good value. They are really Cooper tires, but are labeled Futura for Pep Boys.

I have 5 (1 unused, 4 barely used) BF Goodrich Trac-Edges for sale. 245/75-16. I can ship them anywhere. They have 95% or more of original tread left on them. I went to taller tires. Please email me if interested. I am totally convinced that these are the best "fit and forget" tire out there. Good wear rating, handle fine, excellent off-road. Thanks,

Will the Dunlop Radial Rover RT tires keep up with the Goodyear MT/R tires off-road(mud especially)?
