My tailpipe rusted behind the center muffler and broke off from that point back. My converters are fine, but not enough good metal around the muffler to reweld the tailpipe back into place. The Borla repalcement looks great, but is $500. I want to replace my center muffler and tailpipe, but would like to do it for around $200. Is there anything that I should stay away from? Does anyone have a good muffler choice (Flowmaster 70 series?) or shop. I am in Saint Louis, Missouri. Thank you for the feedback.

Brett,
Scroll down the list to see discusssions already held...a browser search on "flowmaster" should do it.
To summarize, you can get a Borla from Nathan Crabtree for something like $380 ([email protected]). The other popular option is a Flowmaster exhaust -- may folks like the 50 series. People have had this installed for under 200.

Brett,
wher in STL are you? i would have showed you my disco w/the flowmaster setup, but my disco is now in Cleveland. i had ordered a flowmaster 50 series from Summit racing and had Midas install it. it was a direct fit for the original muffler. also had the resonator replaced with a straight pipe. you can locally get a flowmaster from Wise Speed shop off of Kingshighway. a friend of mine that has a RR LWB just put one on too. make his RR sound meaner, especially since it's got a Rimmer on it.

Brett,
I installed the Borla cat-back system on a 95 Disco and have no regrets - I had the exact same problem you did. I bought mine from Summit Racing and had it 3 days after ordering and I live outside the US. I was very impressed with the fit and design ... room for articulation, easy to install and let's face it ... it just sounds plain nasty. I installed it myself and with the right tools, should take about a half an hour to a hour. Of course, I didn't have the right tools so I had to make the trip to Sears which added on another hour to the install. Some people have commented that it is too loud, it is louder than stock but not to the point that is annoying.
