So, if I turn my radio on and the volume all the way down and then start my engine, there's a noticable amount of static (RFI) coming through the speakers. I've heard some other disco owners have fixed this problem by replacing their spark plugs & wires, but I just upgraded to Magnecor over the weekend + new plugs and I still have the same interference problem.

I'm guessing that since it doesn't happen until I start the engine that it might be a motor or something related to the engine (as opposed to the AC, etc.), but I'm not really sure where to start...

Anyone one else run into this problem and been able to fix it-- any tips on hunting it down?

Thanks!
BillBail

I have a '96 and have installed Magnecor wires and new plugs as well recently. I did notice that it got worse when I installed a new aftermarket CD player. It is true that this is a fairly common issue. I have a friend with a '97 Disco with the same issue. I have been told that relocating the ground (or ground loop) on the stereo will help with the reducing the RFI. This came from my brother-in-law who is an acoustical engineer. Not that it means he is right, but better than listening to me. (an architect) I have yet to try this, since it has just become normal to me. I will be getting this done soon though and will get back to you with any conclusions.
