Hi,

The passenger side window of my 97 Disco SD7 started making a popping noise when you push the button for up/down. It doesn't go down all the way, just about half way then it slows down and starts making a popping noise. I stop it before it gets too bad. On the way up, it's fine, until it gets to the top at which point it starts popping again at the top.

Anyone have this problem before and fix it? Suggestions or ideas?

Thanks,

Scott

there is a little plastic wheel on the scissor mechanism that slides in a track, this wheel is broken.

land rover doesn't sell this little wheel seperate, so they want you to pay $100 for the a whole new regulator (scissor thing).

the new regulators still have a plastic wheel and are still prone to breaking. so i am planning on using a bearing to fix mine.

in the mean time when i'm winding the window down and it starts to slow and stall, i reach over and help push it down. this seems to help.

FYI, it is very easy to pop the inside of the door off and take a look

Thanks,

Just found this discussion here on Discoweb:
http://www.discoweb.org/discus/messages/9/620.html?986460212

Does anyone know of the specific part (part # or specs) to get as a replacement, say, from Home Depot or an auto hardware store?

How about the part # for the regulator? Maybe someone online is selling a junked one or sells them cheaper than the dealer.

Thanks,

Scott
