Eaton M90 supercharger(8psi of boost, change a lot of stock stuff under there to accomodate its size and extra power)-$3000
Custom K&N cone airfilter-$100
Borla Exhaust system-$300
NRP Y-pipes-$800
NRP performance chip-$200
that will give you about 300-320hp.

Trade it in on a Discovery Series II. Much faster.
The Series I discos are just not speed demons.

If you want speed, then buy a BMW X5. There is a new one coming out with 355hp. It is suppose to be the fastest SUV and most powerful SUV in the world, but with 20" wheels don't plan on any off-roading.

I'm curious - what is the hp rating of a stock 96' series I 4.0?

That would be 190 hp @ 4750 rpm. Should be in your manual.

For about the same money as the supercharger above, you could get a 4.6 short block and then rechip the ECU for a few hundred bucks more. After my 3.9 "B" got cooked, I put in an RPi long block with a Tornado chip and have been very happy with the increased power. This is the motor Land Rover should have been putting in these things from the beginning!!!!

Norm,
What was the cost for the engine excluding installation and shipping? Did you have to use your 3.9 oilpan and modify it or use a 4.6 oilpan?
