Last week coming home from the beach, my 95 D1 with 70K miles started to surge slightly. In drive at about 65mph and 2250rpm, the tach started to go up to about 2500 then back down. I turned down the radio to listen to the motor and it sounded like the tach was telling the truth. Any suggestions? Within the past 10k miles I,ve put in new Magnecore wires cap/rotor, K&n filter, and done all routine maintenece. Just want to nip this in the butt before it becomes an issue.( the first in 70K miles)!!

I guess it's not impossible for the torque converter clutch to slip, but it's not something that usually happens. Transmission slip, on the other hand, is common when your fluid is low. Check it cold, in neutral, with the engine running.
