Ok - I have a 95 Discovery without sunroofs. No problem really except the headliner is coming unattached in the indentations where the sunroofs would be. I inquired at my dealer, and was told a new headliner would be in the $1,000 range.

Now, it occured to me that a sunroof being installed would alleviate the problem, because the only place the liner is coming loose is around the inside of the indentations (the only concave curves on the liner). The dealer said roofs would be about $1000 each, so this is not an option. However, I found roofs on-line in the $200-$300 range. They are made specifically for the Discovery and are manully operated. Any idea how hard of a job it is to install these? How about long term leakage? Any advice will be appreciated.

Also - any other ideas re: the headliner would be nice.

Thanks in advance.

-Marc

Maybe try to use some adhesive like epoxy to affix it back up - you could use a syringe so it leaves no trace. Never done this - just an idea...

The problem with headliners usually is not that the glue holding the fabric up is bad, but the foam backing is rotten. Glueing it will probably result in it falling down in a day or so. There are places around that can install better sunroofs for less money than the dealer. However, if you want an easy, cheap fix, here's an idea. Go to an auto parts store and get a box or two of "trim fasteners" that match the color of the headliner. These are little plastic pieces with large, flat heads used to secure various trim in vehicles. By punching holes in the headliner with a suitable sharp implement in strategic locations, you can use the trim fasteners to physically hold the fabric in place. It won't be perfect, but it's a $3 fix.

Marc -- Can you tell me the URLS for the Moonroofs!!!?? I've been looking to find out what they are for a year now!! I'd love to know & install them myself or have them installed. Do you know if they have the "privacy shade" as well?

Marine Stores sell syringes for Epoxy -- with West System 3 Epoxy. Syringes work great.
