I did a keyword search, but didn't find any useful info. Basically, my tach is no longer indicating the correct engine speed (checked with another tach that is correct) at certain roadspeeds. My alternator belt is routed correctly and is putting out the required 100 amps. Where is this tachometer connection on the back of the alternator that I see mentioned occasionally? And has anybody else experienced this type of thing? The tach indicates correctly at idle and up through most of the engine speed. However, when cruising, after the torque converter clutch locks-up in 4th, my rpms drop way lower than they used to (and don't match the test tach). I haven't a clue what would cause this, and I don't necessarily need a "certified" tachometer, but if it's something easy to fix maybe somebody could shed some light on it?

Thanks in advance,
Jon

...or maybe the tach itself is just bad?
