which is better overall? i like the arb because you can control the locking mechanism but in the detroit, you can't control anything. how are you to be sure that the detroit won't lock up on the street? what triggers the locking mechanism? although i heard that the detroit is stronger, i'm kinda looking to buy the arb because i would have more control.

Why not use the "utilities" & "keyword search" for "ARB or Detroit", then read one hundred seventy-five plus (175) pages of info.....then make up your own mind? Use the resources provided here and stop asking the same questions over and over.

why not get them both? detroit for rear and ARB for front.

If it's your daily runner, get the ARB. I was running a Detroit locker in the rear. I would not do it anymore. Even though I drove very moderately, the profil of the rear tires melted faster than snow in the spring sun.
