I`m going to buy my first Disco this time next year and have some questions. I plan on adding New shocks and OME springs and the 225/75 or 245/70 BFG All Terrains as one of the first Mods and then later adding a ARB bumber with the Warn 9000i wench. Now i live in Maryland so i won`t be doing any serious rock crawling but more trail running with rocks and mud. SO my question here is 1) Whats the best set up for the OME springs (front/rear) and will i need to change my brake lines or anything else if i add the new springs? 2) whats the better shock out there ( I use Rancho 5000`s on my J**P but is there a better shock for the Disco II? 3) I would rather put on the BFG Mud tires and would like to know if the 225/75 tires will fit with out any trimming? 4) If by adding the OME springs to the Disco will allow a taller tire what size`s will fit with what spring and with out any trimming?. Yea i know i`m a J**P owner now but i will be going to the ULTIMATE level of DISCO ownership next spring eheh. Thanks in advance for your help.

Why are you planning on going with a smaller tire than stock?

Getting a 2002 D2. Sorry should have stated that. Mike according to the Tire Fitting guide here on Disco Web both tires are taller than stock. I`ve never seen the tires before just going by the chart here and what i`ve read on other posts here.

I think the D2 has 255/70/R16s as stock (30.2), whereas the D1 has 235/70/R16s (29.1). 225/70/R16 is a 29.4 inch tall tire. Also, the 225 tire is rated at about 2,300 lbs versus about 2,700 lbs for the 255 tire. I'm not a tire expert, but this does not sound like a better choice over stock.

BFGoodrich tires (www.bfgoodrichtires.com) has excellent tire charts on their website. Click on Tire Catalog, Light Truck/Suv and click on the All-Terrain T/A. Click on the link for 'Size and complete information'. This will give you load ratings and tire sizes for that model. Most tires in similar sizes will have similar characteristics.

Thanks,
Mike B.

Stock D2 tires are 255/65R16 AFAIK. You should be able to fit 265/75R16 but check with people that have actually done that.
