Yup, I took the plunge after the few months of reading here and the occasional post. Bought a 99 DSII, White, leather, 29500 miles. Needless to say I am pretty damn excited. Left my deposit today, and am paying for it in 2 days just in time to lightly "break it in" with a camping
trip this weekend.
Thanks to you all who have answered my newbie questions (note: I am still a newbie) and especially thanks to Gil for doing research on the trucks I was considering. Your info was of great help and value to me.
Just wanted to share the good news!

Yes, don't forget to get some pictures from that first camping trip, and send them to Ho so he can create a picture gallery for you. Congratulations, and Good Luck!

...and make sure you wave at the other owners!

LOL....yeah, sliders are my first upgrade this winter. No lift until I move out west permanently. Luckily the stock springs have sagged "just enough" to let me get into my garage here in Chicago with literally 1 inch to spare. If I would have bought new, I would have been outta luck! Thanks for the kind words guys....you can bet that in time this rover will see its share of trails. I plan on joining a driving club next summer in WA or ID.

The madness begins... Next thing he knows he'll wake up with a couple of Series trucks in the yard, and a parts buying habit that makes cocaine look like cheap thrills! When Atlantic British is programmed into your cell phone, you'll know you're hooked beyond all hope. Welcome!

Congratulations, Bill!
Hehehe, E Syder's right ... I am starting to become obsessed already about gear and modifications! Let's see ... Recovery reenforcements/gear first, then what? ... new bumper/bar, or shocks & springs, or dif guard, or maybe just buy some lights so I can rationalize my poser "barbie" brush bar with stock bumper (LOL) ...
Have a great time on your camping trip!

Hey, the only reason I got my poser "barbie" brush bar was to hold the lights!!! Now I have to go and get a real one to hold the lights and a winch... I see that Rovertym should have a bumper to offer soon as their web site said June 01... Can't wait to see it.

MTB: That's okay, I even piss myself off at times.
As for the waving, I have a couple of problems around here; A) We are flooded with very high end autos in this area - A Disco is probably considered by many just to be a "commoner's" vehicle ("The Grey Poupon Crowd"). I'm sure if I waved to someone here, they wouldn't have a clue, and/or ...
B) With my luck, I would wave and end up having some fruitcake (remember, I live in SO CAL. by the beach) who thinks I'm flirting follow me around.
But, I'll try it anyway!

Commoners vehicle, eh? So the next time you are next to one of those snobby folks at a stoplight, roll down your window and say:
"Pardon me, do you have any Cheap Yellow Mustard?"

"Pardon me, do you have any Cheap Yellow Mustard?"

Congrats! I actually bought mine on vacation. I was working with Tom Pearson (see PhotoGallery) before his mod's and was struggling over getting a new one or used one. I was on vacation in another state and my buddy suggested I check out the local Land Rover dealership in West Chester, PA. Saw a premium 95 and went up to the salesman and said "I am going back to Chicago this afternoon, I am either going in the 95 Disco or my Honda - make it worth my while." They took care of everything - can't say enough good things about both the dealership and my Disco. Now the fun begins ... suspension, bumpers, gears, lockers
