Hello All,

Well, the dash is starting to peal, on both the passanger siad and driver side, at the very edge/corner. Anything that can be done before it gets out of hand? (Yes, its out of warantee) I know about the mechanical fastner kits for pealing dashes, but Honestly think they look like S***. And Ideas?

Ideas (probably bad):

Duct tape.

Liquid nails.

Replace with a stylish all metal Series IIa dash.

Ron

Once it peels thats it, either replace or get the kit. Or just live with it.

Aw, Ron.... No, not a SIIa dash... go w/ a SIII dash... when it cracks, you can patch it up.

If your dash really is starting to "peal", I do hope that at least it is not ringing too loudly ...

Hello Wes,

Familiar with that repair kit, and while it may do the job, it is exceedingly Ugly in my eyes. I was hoping maybe someone else had devised a solution for the "Peeling" issue if caught early....Anyone?

What are the SIIa and SIII dashes you guys are referring to?

My '94 had the peeling. I had some brass coins from overseas trips...drilled countersunk holes in them, and screwed them down along the edge with short colored deck screws. Holds the dash down and gives a unique look. Of course, as lot of other things could be screwed down...ala trim strips etc.

MY 94 did the same thing and i found that the thing was warrantied as a fix even though it was out of warranty time. Aparently this was recognised as a problem with all Aussie disco's and as such was repaired free of charge in 1998.

Has anyone had the dash fixed under warranty by the dealer in the States?

Any info?

I had my '96 fixed in '98 under warranty in NC w/o any problem. In the UK I read they're fixed regardless of warranty status. It was a design flaw-

I've always seen this in reference to '94 - '96 Discos.... does it also affect '97 - '99 Discos?

Yeah, my '95's dash peel was fixed at no cost, even though the warranty ran out long ago. I'd look into it, unless you really just don't like the fix kit that much
