I'm pretty new at this, in fact so new that I haven't actually bought a Disco. yet. Looking at a '96 though. In anticipation I was wondering where to buy some goods. I think what I'm looking for is a brush guard. This is basically a push bar w/ wrap arounds for the lights correct? I don't want a whole new bumper just the cattle guard. Where to go and how much should I expect to pay? Also, the rig has running boards which I'd like to change out for nerf bars (that's what they're called right?). How much should I expect to pay for these, and where should I go.
Thanks for any help.

Click on the link above labeled "resources", then click vendors to the right. Now, shop for about 5 days.

Enjoy!

For a brush bar I would hang around the message board here under the "for sale" section. You can regularly find them here for anywhere around $150 and up in really good shape. Usually they are being sold by owners who have upgraded to a bar/bumper that is winch compatible.
As far as "nerf" bars go, most rigs here are running 'rock sliders' that offer the protection I think you are after. They are strong steel pieces that replace the fiberglass stock pieces under the doors on each side.

Good luck in your search!

Actually I'm looking for nerf bars. My wife and kids want a step into the truck but I don't like the "grandpa needed these" look of the running boards. Does anybody have these or is it running board of rock sliders only? Also, what can I expect to pay?
Thanks,
Lynden

I think the RoverTym ones stick out a bit and can be a step. You could start looking there.

My two year old can climb unassisted in to the back of our Disco.

the rovertym sliders are awesome. i've had them for about 3 weeks, nothing is better. they provide a step, and if your truck isn't lifted, would provide plenty. my 5 year old gets in and out fine, but she also uses the handle on the back of my seat. disco I SD....

Stephen,

A two-year old?? My 6-year old gets in and out fine, but
a) he uses the plastic sill as a step (1 more reason for wanting a Rovertym), and
b) he barely gets in and out w/o getting muddy now... last year, he would have mud smeared up and down his front if he got in and out by himself.

I take it you're not heading somewhere in your Sunday best when your little one gets in and out, are you?

yep - he's two and can climb in and out by himself!
A-yeah he uses the plastic sill to get in.
B-other way around! - he's usually a filthy muddy little guy and gets the Rover dirty!
