I have a pair on my 97. They work great and look cool too. They came with 55-watt bulbs, which are OK I guess for city use, but I upgraded to the 100-watt bulbs and have had no problems. They get the black color from these black rings that are in front of the bulb and reflect the black color onto the reflector. As far as I can tell they are just as bright as the normal Hella lights.
Hope that helped a little. Fred

Fred what type of bulb did you go to I have tryed two different 100 watt bulbs and both have failed prematurley. I think do to the increased heat of the higer wattage, But they do look realy nice on my 97 willow green disco. I have had no problems with the 55 watt bulbs

Scott I use just the standard H-3 100 watt bulbs that I purchased at the local Auto parts shop. The bulbs are made by Sylvania I believe. The original bulbs were made by Hella and I am not sure if there is a difference between the two manufactures. The bulbs have been used for about 6 months now without failing.
