I found this on the Rover's North site:

ALLDATA listed trouble codes for 96 model US Discoveries

DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES

*Codes* are used to identify the 4 Oxygen Sensors.
A = Bank A of the engine. Cylinder #1 is located on Engine Bank A.
B = Bank B of the engine.
U = Upstream of the Catalytic Converter.
D = Downstream of the Catalytic Converter.

Example:
A D = Oxygen Sensor Engine Bank A, Downstream of Catalytic Converter.

And it also mentions this link for OBD II software:

You can buy the correct cable and software for $122 from www.obd-2.com (no affiliation, just satisfied customer) and in conjunction with a laptop read, repair malfunction and clear the check engine light.

It is quite a bit cheaper than a dedicated device.

Stephen,

What else did you have to buy besides the cable? Plugs directly to you laptop? Any other hidden stuff to buy?

TIA

Ken Beck

Ken
I just pulled this info from the Rover's North site - I have not purchased anything - yet!
Perhaps someone else here has pursued this...?
I too would be interested in buying this stuff. I wonder if it has the ability to actually clear the fault too?

I'm the guy who posted the stuff on the rovers north site. A friend loaned me the cable and the OBD-II software. CAKE. All the worries about connections and codes, it was so easy! You can download a trial version of the software to learn the interface. (www.obb-2.com). As stated above no affiliation, just happy.

Dave,
Were you able to clear the fault codes and turn the check engine light off?
Cal
