If it's US spec I believe it was a standard feature. Check ebay for remotes...

when you lock your disco, your lights should flash. If they do flash, then you are equipped with that option...

Look between your spedo and tach, just between then and below - right on the edge should be a little LED light (at least that's were it is on my 96 Disco) or open up your hood and look for the hood switch mentioned by Ben in the message above. If you have these, then you have a factory alarm. To my knowledge the factory alarm comes standard on Disco's - but don't quote me on that, I'm not sure when they decided that.
There is in fact a difference between remotes. Don't get the factory 2 button version, you need the 1 button version with the LED light on the remote. The two button is for 96 and newer.

Also if you hold your key in the locked position for a few seconds the alarm will turn on. If you then do the same in the off position the alarm will turn off.
Ron
PS this is a 96 others may be different

94-95 Use the one button remotes. Anything after that uses the newer 2 button remote. New one button remotes are $90-$110...I just picked one up (one button) on eBay for $45.

Hey I have a 95 remote that I will sell you. It is brand new in the boxs. Never been used. I will sell it for $50. All you have to do is have it programed for your vehicle!!

Is the same true for the 97's? If the alarm works, then I have the keyless option?

Guys -- I'm lost. I have a 96 -- it obviously had keyless, it has alarms, etc. But HOW do you just BUY a remote that will work with the existing (I presume its there) fm receiver and servos. I'm lost.
Here's my stupid question -- how does one remote not "work" on all systems? Or when you buy a remote on eBay does it come with a receiver with the same frequency that you have to install?
Thanks.
